Road trip fever

Puppy window drivingIt’s no secret that I am in a constant state of wanderlust. While I won’t be going very far, my entire summer weekends will be filled with road trips for work and pleasure, and celebrations of love (it’s wedding season, of course). So here we go, let’s do this, summer! I’ll be sure to share my adventures with you. ❤

Where do you plan on going this season?

Foodie central: Bite of Oregon

img602Bite of Oregon 2013 Recap img593 img598img596img614Why yes, I am a little behind on my posts. But who cares? Photos are around to relive your moments. So here I am, reliving a bit of summer and my trip to the Bite of Oregon.

It’s no secret that I love food. But I don’t afford myself the opportunity to get out as often as I would like on food adventures. I experiment in my kitchen often, but let’s just say that I could use a bit more practice. I can deal with that – more food adventures in my home.

The Bite of Oregon is a 3-day culinary event, and not only does it include lots of food, but food demonstrations including an Iron Chef of Oregon competition that is played out live before your eyes. Pretty neat.

My sister and I got a weekend pass, and we just ate. And ate. Yum! So here’s a peek at our Bite of Oregon adventure, complete with some of the best music compilations I have heard, courtesy of a DJ playing tunes just outside of the event, working on a donation basis. Yes, Mr. DJ, I approve of the 90’s dance music.

Little Things #37: Summer is not over yet.

Cliff jumpingChange is in the air, and everyone is talking about how excited they are about autumn. Pumpkin this, pumpkin that. People are even wearing boots. Well, I love autumn too. But I am not ready to move on from summer yet. We had some monsoon-like rains and thunderstorms the other day which made everyone believe that Portland’s summer is over. Well, the next day it was sunny and hot. Folks, summer is not over yet. Let’s enjoy it while it lasts, mmkay? I can’t wait for pumpkins and boots too. But all in good time. 🙂

Ice cream sister date

Sisters and ice creamThere’s something about summer and and ice cream that goes so well together. I’m not one for sweets, but I was extremely thirsty and an ice cream float sounded like the best solution. It was. So that’s how we ended up at an impromptu ice cream sister date! Yum.

Welcome back to reality…

Mt. Hood CabinI just came back from a weekend of this. Celebrating a good friend’s Birthday, staying at a cabin on the mountain, and diving in to culinary adventures. While every weekend is booked this summer until mid-August, I am grateful for my weekend adventures and the amazing people I get to spend them with.

It does get a little overwhelming not having down time for a month and a half and cramming everything I need to do into the weekdays, but I can’t complain. I mean, who would complain about camping, weddings, cabins, road trips, and best friends? Well, a little R&R would be nice because I am SO not ready to get back into my weekday routine…

Little Things #15: Portland sun

Portland sunPortland gets a bad rap for being so cloudy and rainy all the time. But I think it’s just because the winter is so gloomy, that you forget how AMAZING the summers are. I don’t. There’s a lot of sunshine, and yes, it hardly rains. My favorite. I enjoyed some kimchi tacos (what else?!) on an outdoor patio this past weekend. Because it was amazing.

93 days of summer…

360 degree view campingHappy Summer Solstice! Even if the official start of summer is a little bit gray here in Portland, I am still excited for this summer! I am already starting to fill up my weekends with summer adventures – seeing my bestie, lots and lots of camping, road trips, and cabin runs…and maybe some moving soon (keep crossing your fingers, I’m still waiting to have the official word in writing on my new home)! I’m starting today, actually – ROAD TRIP! What are you doing this summer?
